EndoHoldโ„ข: A US-Patented Endoscope Holder Revolutionizing Two-Handed ENT Surgeries

EndoHoldโ„ข is a groundbreaking, US-patented endoscope holder designed by Dr. Mubarak Muhamed Khan to facilitate two-handed endoscopic surgeries in the field of Otorhinolaryngology (ENT). This innovative device addresses the challenges of traditional single-handed endoscopic procedures by providing stable endoscope positioning, thereby allowing surgeons to utilize both hands for intricate surgical tasks.

Challenges in Traditional Endoscopic ENT Surgery

In conventional endoscopic ENT surgeries, surgeons often hold the endoscope in one hand, leaving only the other hand available for surgical maneuvers. This limitation can lead to:

โ€ข Reduced Dexterity: Impairing the surgeonโ€™s ability to perform precise movements.

โ€ข Increased Fatigue: Prolonged single-handed operation can cause muscle strain.

โ€ข Compromised Stability: Difficulty in maintaining a steady view of the surgical field.

The EndoHoldโ„ข Solution

EndoHoldโ„ข overcomes these challenges by securely holding the endoscope, enabling surgeons to operate with both hands. Key features include:

โ€ข Stable Visualization: Maintains a consistent view of the surgical area, reducing motion artifacts.

โ€ข Enhanced Precision: Frees both hands for delicate procedures, improving accuracy.

โ€ข Ergonomic Design: Reduces physical strain on surgeons during lengthy operations.

Technical Specifications

EndoHoldโ„ข is designed with versatility and ease of use in mind:

โ€ข Adjustable Positioning: Allows for precise alignment of the endoscope to the surgical site.

โ€ข Compatibility: Suitable for various endoscope sizes and types commonly used in ENT surgeries.

โ€ข Robust Construction: Made from durable materials to ensure longevity and reliability.

Clinical Applications

EndoHoldโ„ข has been successfully utilized in various ENT procedures, including:

โ€ข Endoscopic Ear Surgeries: Such as tympanoplasty and ossiculoplasty.

โ€ข Sinus Surgeries: Providing improved access and visualization.

โ€ข Laryngeal Procedures: Enhancing precision in delicate areas.

Research Publications

The efficacy and utility of EndoHoldโ„ข have been documented in several peer-reviewed publications by Dr. Khan and his colleague, Dr. Sapna Ramkrishna Parab:

I am tremendously impressed with two handed Endoscopic dissection, I have used microscopes for ear surgery for more than 5 decades and always tought microscopeic dissection for more 25 years to more than 2800 students , but the field which you get with endoscope is far superior than microscope , and Endoscope is only instrument for all nasal and anterior skull base surgeries, and can be used as additional instruments in many lateral skull base surgeries, and is best instrument for photography in many laryngeal lesions, it's best instrument to demonstrate all type of thyroplasties , i think more and more institutes should train our students with endoscopic ear surgeries, the limitations of endoscopic surgery in anterior skull base surgery are minimised blearning to use three or four hands occasionally, we should be great full to Mubark khan for developing the endoscopic surgery stand , I have watched dissection on few occasions by junior surgeons also it's great tool , learning curve will be probably little longer as all we senior surgeons using microscope may not like to popularise or may not be very comfortable using it ,

Stand developed by Mubarak is excellent stand with possibility of 360 degrees rotation, but it may take time for us to get used to multiple nobes , quality is also outstanding of material used for stand , and more than that he also has stand which can hold the microscope also ,i think every teaching institute having post graduate program should have this equipment in their hospital
